About Clara

The belief that guides all of my work is that when we shine a light on the strength and raw beauty inherent in the process of physiologic birth, when we honor the inner power of mamas, and when we adequately care for postpartum families we foster individuals and communities that are honest, gentle, radical, and resilient. These are communities that can change the world.

I've been fascinated by pregnancy, birth, and motherhood since I was a very young child. I’ve always known that I wanted to work in the birth world; a feeling that was amplified after witnessing my very first live (non-human) birth while working on a goat farm. My experiences working in regenerative agriculture deepened my understanding that we are a part of nature, not apart from it. This is a belief that influences my personal and professional life.

As a doula, I am deeply committed to fostering an environment where expectant and new parents feel supported, empowered, and nurtured on all levels – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. My unique training in birth and postpartum care, lactation counseling, Ayurvedic postpartum care, yoga and continuing education in herbal medicine offer my clients the opportunity to experience a more easeful four trimesters guided not just by me, but by a deep listening to their own intuition.

When I'm not tending to mamas and babies you can find me taking long walks by the ocean, knitting sweaters, pressing herbal tinctures, climbing rocks in beautiful places, and milking goats in West Marin.
