Postpartum CCF tea

Updated: Nov 14, 2024

This comforting yet savory tea blend used in Ayurveda is the perfect post-birth tonic to aid digestion, promote lymphatic drainage, and support hydration.

This tea is considered “tridoshic,” meaning it balances all of the doshas and is appropriate for all types of people throughout all phases of life. Partner’s and older children may enjoy this soothing drink as well.

I recommend drinking a cup of warm CCF tea after every meal during the first 6 weeks postpartum.

Ingredients:

Cumin Seed

In Ayurveda this pungent herb is thought to help digest toxins in the body, boost milk, and helps to release stagnant vata energy in the pelvic region.

Fennel Seed

Fennel, the Sanskrit name of which translates to “sweet one” is a wonderful postpartum ally. Fennel soothes any digestive discomfort, reduces gas +bloating, and is thought to boost milk quality.

Coriander Seed

In addition to its benefits to digestion, coriander seed helps decrease inflammation

Recipe

This tea couldn't be simpler. If you can make rice, you can make CCF tea;

bring 6 cups of water and 2tbsp cumin seed, 2tbsp fennel seed, and 2tbsp coriander seed to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20-60 minutes.

Strain and enjoy throughout your day!
